Eurovent certification brings the world’s leading filter manufacturers to Espoo for testing

Eurovent certification is an excellent example of the desire of European actors in the field of ventilation to test and certify their products. The Eurovent Certified Performance mark is a sign of an internationally recognised certification.
The accredited certification body Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC) wants to make it easier to compare products and improve the reliability of classifications with its certification. Eurovent certificates have been granted for more than 20 years.
As a testing laboratory accredited by Eurovent (ECC), VTT Expert Services is one of the most important ventilation air filter testing laboratories in the world. Our customers include leading ventilation air filter manufacturers both in Finland as well as internationally. Over the past ten years, we have tested approximately 150 filters per year.
Our testing laboratory is located in Otaniemi, Espoo. For the Eurovent certification, we test air filters according to the new standard SFS-EN ISO 16890:2016 as well as the old standard SFS-EN 779:2012 it will replace. In practice, we measure the air filter pressure loss, the arrestance of coarse filters, as well as the ability of fine filters to separate particles of various sizes from air. The ISO standard classifies air filters into groups starting from the "finest" grade: ISO ePM1, ISO ePM2,5, ISO ePM10 and ISO Coarse.
In addition to air filters, we also test residential ventilation units and air ducts for Eurovent certification. These product groups are a part of the newer Eurovent certification programmes.
What is Eurovent?
Eurovent is a European association in the field of ventilation. Its members include more than 1,000 manufacturers from 30 different countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Eurovent Certita Certification is an independent certification body, accredited by COFRAC and mainly owned by the Eurovent association. Its certification programmes include more than 40 product groups. COFRAC is the French national accreditation body.
