Feasible implementation of adhesive bonding requires correctly chosen bonding procedure, and good knowledge of joint design. Eurofins Expert Services provides variety of design, strength analysis and testing services for adhesively bonded joints.

Common advantages of adhesive bonding

  • More uniform stress distribution when load is applied
  • Local stress concentrations are reduced
  • Good fatigue resistance
  • Vibration damping
  • Reduced weight and part count
  • Dissimilar materials can be joined
  • Large areas can be joined rapidly
  • Automation possible
  • No finishing costs
  • Easily combined with other joining methods

Euerofins Expert Services provides help for product development, manufacturing and quality assurance. Testing and design services along with strength analysis are the most commonly required services.

Problems associated with the bonding practice, incorrect material and adhesive combinations and insufficient surface treatment can also be examined with our specialists. For strength analysis up-to-date tools are available, including various finite element software and ESAComp.

Large test selection for adhesive testing

All ASTM and ISO standard tests can be conducted with our test facilities. Also other static and dynamic tests, as well as creep tests may be conducted. Test fixtures can be modified for small scale material tests < 1 kN and large scale structural tests up to 2 MN according to customer’s needs.

Material ageing and testing of environmentally exposed specimens is possible with climate chambers. Adhesive bond quality can also be investigated with different kinds of non-destructive test methods. Our test laboratory fulfils the requirements of standard SFS-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005.

Tests for adhesively bonded joints

  • Shear tests
  • Peel and cleavage tests
  • Tensile tests
  • Creep tests
  • Ageing tests
  • Impact tests
  • Fatigue tests
  • Fracture mechanics test
